I was firing some Russian (old) aamunition when my CZ-82 locked up with an empty case halway out of the chamber. The slide won't busdge forward or back. Tapping with a screwdriver wouldn't move the slide either. Taking off the grips I noticed the pin from the safety that touches the trigger bar seems to be extending much farther than it should. How to fix? Or time to take it to a gunsmith? Thanks for any help.

if you hade a squib in it you have bulged the barrel , normally the slide lock in back of the bulged , then have to cut the barrel in back of the bulged then you take the slide off , then replace the barrel, it still could of happen the other way ,take a rubber mallet , and drive the slide back, then look down the barrel and see if has a bulge in it ,

that's all I say for right now

as I was reading through the thread, I concluded bulged barrel as well.

Can you drive the slide forward?

If you DO have a bulged barrel and you should be able to tell this by either shining a light down the bore, or using a 'feeler'.

I see little hope of getting this type of pistol apart (The Walther PP disassembly type) without destroying the slide.

You are very lucky you didn't get a KABOOM with injuries.
The nice thing about a gun with a full length slide is that the Kabooms (and any 'shrapnel') are usually going to be contained within the slide, and only a very few types of slide are likely to come loose and head for your face.

It isn't like having the top half of a revolver starting to fly around on you.

It's bulged. I sent an e-mail to CZ USA to see if they'll repair it. This was MY fault for using ammunition that had been soaked over the Winter but looked fine. Dumb!
i am curious what they were soaked with over the winter

I have a private outdoor range close to my home where I keep ear muffs, shooting glasses, targets, etc. in waterproof (wrong) plastic tubs. I also had some ammunition in a seperate tub. Sometime in the Winter the tub cracked and the bottom must have filled up with melted snow, then dried in warmer weather. I should have tossed it, but it looked fine. Boom!
