Took another step towards completing the "Lithgow Sporters" part of my collection the other day with the addition of a .410. Still need a couple of the .22 rifles, but edged a little closer and thought an updated pic was warranted.
The .410 single shot shotguns were made between the late 1940's and 1958 with a run of 7,266 manufactured on receivers drawn from stores.

Top to bottom,
Lithgow Single Shot Target Rifle
Mod24 .22Hornet
.410 Ga. Shotgun
Mod12 .22RF
Mod1b .22RF SS

I can only think of 3 more (1, 1B, and 55?). What are the other two? I am trying to complete a set myself, and have all the above except the S/S Target Rifle, and the "other two".

Nice one mate, everyone else starts there collection with the easy ones , your doing it the other way around ! Not many of us will ever get to own a Lithgow target rifle tho

Brad, i have a 1941 Lithgow sporter, d&t for a scope & stamped DP so must be a former Darwin Police sniper rifle that i would be willing to part with for a highly inflated price (willing to trade.....a No6 maybe with a little cash my way) give me call

Son knows about the 12g from one of the Infamous HT Club get togethers. Some thieving so and so took a liking to mine.

5th, It is truly tempting but I have already improved my No6 to a point where I couldn't part with it, not even for two Darwin Police snipers!

As for you, Lithy... nah, not going to collect the new ones... the newest rifle in my safe is the SS, and it's over 40. And the humble little .410 is the only shotgun I will ever own. Took many councelling sessions for my other Lithgows to accept it into the safe. I'm sure they would reject the copy of the yank cowboy gun, no matter how much coachwood it was wearing! (no offence intended toward our US members... bit of aussie humour going on)

Yes, I can fully understand the angst within the collection when a new member is introduced.

You should have heard the riot when the last couple went into the safe. The LSAs and BSAs jacked up over the new Pommy rifle. I thought they'd have got along, but no, if you aren't suitably attired with full length timber you are not welcome. Cocktail attire on the sporters, whilst less than appropriate, is endured if they are elegant and their barrels are slender.

The Savage and Longbranch rifles started off well until they discovered the WFM4 was built in OZ and then that relationship quickly turned sour.

My first proper rifle was a 1A and is still the king, so therefore the subsequent additions lack rank when they are inducted.

Camera what camera. I dont remember buying a camera, when did Lithgow make cameras what calibre are they. Buggar something else to look for.

I can understand why Son doesn't give his location, with a collection like his, there would be some thieving lowlifes that would love to liberate them from him.

Camera what camera. I dont remember buying a camera, when did Lithgow make cameras what calibre are they. Buggar something else to look for.

I'm pretty sure there were camera tripods and other bits along with the shearing handpieces and golf clubs in the front room at the museum.

Edit to add; it was projectors for those new fangled talking movies that they made. I don't reckon they'll gain any degree of popularity. A bit the same as those record playing machines that are alongside them.
