Saw a k98 all matching, unsanded all eagles and correct WaA on stock and all parts have WaA37 and WaA359 down to the capture screws. The only thing is the upper barrel band has another number that's lined out and the correct to this rifles serial number numbered. Is this a force match faked piece or is this a legitimate Nazi arsenal repair/force match? Did the Nazi arsenals line out a part and put the correct serial? Would this be a unit repair? This is not a RC. as its a legitimate bring back duffle cut repair as well. Need help....

Thanks in advance

Mak, pics would help re the line out. Line out alone could be wartime, could be postwar, could be other country, could be bubba (though that's not likely, bubba grinds). The totality of the rifle will tell the tale though with the dufflecut it sounds like a wartime repair/rework. Got pics?

Could be the owner lost the band while it was still apart and had it renumbered. I doubt it was done in the interest of monetary gain but who knows.
