Is there any increase in value of a Lead-Lease (British Proofed) M1911A1 over a non-marked M1911A1? If an increase, how much? Appreciate any input. Thanks.

In my experience(20 years of collecting the US 1911 and A1), it is a toss up. Some will pay more. Some, like me, will pay less. Most folks want original as it left the factory or original as it left US inventory. A minty example, Lend lease or not, is where the money is. It also depends on manufacturer. If a Singer, it will bring great money regardless. A US&S will do well regardless as well.

British Proof

Does the pistol have British military or commercial proof marks?

If commercial it does not mean Lend Lease, but simply that the gun was in the UK at some time. It could be something as simple as the fact that it passed through Interarms Manchester or London warehouse and therefore had to be British proofed by law.

What those previous posters said.

Be interesting to see if the pistol in question has the usual arsenal rebuild(s) typical of USGI M1911A!s--I'm assuming a kosher lendlease weapon wouldn't.

Beyond all that, IMHO the conditon of the weapon would be a far greater arbiter of value than whether it went to England.
