I had a 1934 that looked just like that, near mint with no grooves milled into the receiver. I always figured it was built much later than 1934. I actually sold that one off when I bought a well worn but appeared to be original 1934 with the first style nosecap, receiver grooves and a modified connecting bar serial numbered to the rifle.
