A new one for me, and my second proper Finnish rifle:

1932 dated Tika, with matching bolt. At a glance it appears to have been re-stocked at some point in it's life as it has the thicker grip, re-enforced nosecap and has been spliced.

Interestingly it doesn't have the bolt wings or the groves in the receiver to accomodate them.

Very nice indeed! Many barrels were not used until some years later which probably accounts for the lack of wings and grooves. This seems most common on M27's dated 1928 and 1932 which were both high production years for M27 barrels. She's definitely a beauty!

The M27 section in MosinNagant.net talks about M27s that were built during Continuation War from older parts stock. Might this be one of those?

I was VERY close to bidding on it, but couldn't justify the money on a rifle that I already have an example of. I got mine off TM in December last year, but I have known of the rifle for many years - it used to belong to a prominent Dunedin collector. It went through three other peoples hands over the space of five years before I bought it.

I'm having the sell off to get some funds for a small project I'm working on. Its a good thing import permits don't cost anything.... :wink:

I had a 1934 that looked just like that, near mint with no grooves milled into the receiver. I always figured it was built much later than 1934. I actually sold that one off when I bought a well worn but appeared to be original 1934 with the first style nosecap, receiver grooves and a modified connecting bar serial numbered to the rifle.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, I have an M27 up for sale on gunbroker. Sorry if this offends, but I am throwing the info out there. This is almost the only other M27 I have seen

While 91/30s, 91s and M39s abound, there are still always one or more M27s for sale at any given time on the auction sites. I have sold several as I upgrade. 28s and 28/30s are less often seen. 91/24s seldom.

Showed the rifle to a collector friend last night, he gave it a cursory look as mosin-nagants aren't really his thing. But when I mentioned that it had a Tikka barrel he replied:

"Really, never seen that before, I've only seen them with SIG barrels. I used to have a couple with SIG barrels" (He'll be referring to m91/24s of course, to him they all look alike )

Finnish rifles are less common over here so I decided to snatch this one up even though I really should be saving my pennies.

Nice M27, no Finn collector should be without one, congratulations. I am sincere as I already
have very nice M27 or so. If you were in US, I might try to talk you out of that Hungarian 91/30. How much is it anyway?
