Here is a pic of the bison I took last October 50 miles into the Missouri Breaks:

He was taken with an EMF Sharps replica in .45-70. Used the Remington 405 JSP ammo.
Yes, I am still eating bison meat and will be for the forseeable future.

This was a tough old bull so there wasn't a lot of tender steaks on him, but there sure is a LOT of him. :) 2000+ lb. bull.
It took us three hours of searching through the Breaks to locate the herd, then another hour to reach them.
Two big bulls were having it out and when they split up, we took them.
The herd circled the downed animals and wouldn't let us near them, even when I rushed them with my 7000 lb plus pickup. They charged my pickup so we backed off. When we used both pickups and some gunshots, they moved off about 50 yards.
Huge critters and very tough. The first shot I fired hit him in the sweet spot, but he didn't even flinch or stop eating grass for that matter. The slug just flattened out against a rib bone and never penetrated.
