I have a question about the dovetail rear sight bases on M91 and Dragoon barrels with Konovalov rear sights. Compared to the M91/30 sight base dovetail dimensions on the later refurbs, are they the same?
I ask this, because I am trying to learn whether or not it is correct to suppose that a 1929 Tula rearsenaled to M91/30 configuration may have originally been assembled with the Konovalov rear sight set-up. If the barrel dovetails are identical - except of course that the earlier bases were soldered-on - I guess there isn't an easy way to tell if the rifle had originally been built with Konovalov sights.
Conversely, I am hoping to learn more about 1929 Tula Dragoons in general. What I have is a typical, run-of-the-mill Ukrainian rearsenaled rifle with the typical refurb parts replacements. The tang date and Tula star match the barrel shank stamps, so it appears the barreled action was always "together".
Thanks for any feedback!
