I received a couple british desert camo lightweight shirts in the mail, and one of them had this patch on it, along with a british flag patch.

anyone know what this signifies or what unit its from? I assume its a unit patch. i googled but with no success.

Just curious who had this shirt before me.

British units per se don't usually have patches, but formations DO. This patch has the same colours as the RAF stable belt - but it's not one that I've ever seen before.
Perhaps somebody still serving can come up with a response that is more useful.

It's a Royal Air Force Tactical Recognition Flash. The soldier in the picture is probably RAF Regiment.

The TRF is used to identify the wearers Regiment or Corps and, as has been said, the Regiment or Corps Stable Belt colours are often used.

They should not be confused with formation Signs, e.g. 7th Armoured Brigade - a red jerboa (or Desert Rat) on a black ground. Or an old one that is one of my favourites 56 (London) Division - always described as : "a black cat with sword up its bum".
