I've had this K98 for decades and never really knew what I had. It came with an in the white, unbent bolt which I figured was a Gew. 98 bolt. No waffenampts on anything. No markings on the top of the receiver nor does it appear to be ground down. Take a look at the pix and see what you think. ANY info you can provide is highly appreciated!
thanks,
Terry

More pice needed...

No crest on top?
Nothing on the top of the reciever ring or along the LH side of the reciever bridge?
Do you know the caliber and if so how?
The upper case prefix E with the S/N screams Portugese yet the front sight configuration is perfect for a K98A...

More pics!!

there is no crest on top and nothing along the LH side of the receiver bridge. The only markings are those pictured.
The caliber is 8mm. There are no import markings found but there is a small, stampedl "8mm" on the barrel under the upper barrel band. I've also fired 7.92 surplus ammo in it over the years of my ownership.
thanks for the comments, gewehrpatrone!

finally got a few more photos. There is a marking on the straight bolt stem which looks like a double-headed Polish eagle to me. Am I dreaming? Also, there is some sort of marking on the safety lever but it might be too difficult to make out what it is.
I am very appreciative of all comments made so far and would love to hear any other thoughts, comments, and ideas.
thanks!
Terry
