I found a K98, that has the number stamped on the bolt handle and not on top of the bolt. Is this correct or forced matched?

Thanks

Correct for what form of K98?

It's not German original...but if the rifle is a post war refurb (my guess) it "may" be correct for that form of refurb.

How about pictures of the complete rifle.

Maybe a Yugo rework ? Mine is stamped on the handle, but not ground out like that one.

yes, that flat grind is unusual, but it looks like it also has electro pencil numbers on the safety. That's a clue. I don't know that I've seen a flat grind Yugo like that. I've seen it on postwar rework Romanian Vz.s I believe. Remember that the K98k of the 1940s - 50s was the same as the AK/AKM of today. Every 3rd world country probably used them, and reworked them, thus there are plenty of variations of assemblies and reworks, etc. It would be nice to have the rifle it came out of!

The gun is a Sauer And Sohn 42, no other markings. Not Russian and no import marks. The bolt matches receiver. I thought it was most likely a force match by a rebuild. It doesn't look to be done by bubba.
