I haven't been a member long, but I didn't need much time to realize the wealth of knowledge here. I'm far from being an expert, but I do know a thing or two about a thing or two. I've seen that some know very little, while others have literally written books. Anyways, one thing led to another and it got me wondering what it is members do for a living.

I'll start, I drive a delivery truck for a major ltl carrier. Who's next?

Worked at a nuke, made electricity. Started as an operations apprentice, retired as an executive.
A fabulous work culture focused on team work, initiative, and merit
The 7/24/365 world of making electricity was stressful as a Manager & exec.

Really interested in collecting arms my relatives carried in WW1 and WW2.
I have my paternal grandfather’s company photo taken in Metz, France after the Armistice , 1917 stacked nearby.
Interested in trying Cowboy Shooting (SASS).

Retired mechanical engineer. More specifically I was a Plant Engineer in a coal-fired Power Plant.

Edit: When I was asked once at work what I felt my ideal job was (it was in one of those touchy-feely meetings many companies believe they need to have from time to time to keep their employees 'happy) , I instantly told them that I would give it all up to be a test pilot for a mattress factory.

Nobody knew what to make of THAT statement.

38 years as a building trades Steamfitter. Been a 1/4 " tube bender to nuclear power steam piping welder to heavy rigger. Worked from Nebraska to western Kentucky, met lots of great people and loved every minute. Started as a lowly apprentice and ended as a Superintendent. Retired in 2014 then started collecting. Trying to learn reloading with cast lead (easier on the old body). The knowledge here is mind boggling and much appreciated.

20 yrs US Army Military Police / Physical Security - was overseas 3 times with the army (Hawaii / Korea / the Netherlands (7 yrs)
Retired, and since I'd been a small time network guy I got into IT Security, did HIPAA and PCI, now do Vulnerability Management as a Security Analyst, which is like the army and do a lot of assorted jobs.
Did go to Saudi for 9 months to train the Saudi National Guard (which is not the guard like we have here) and then 9 months in Iraq near Cop Shocker (a small base a few miles from Iraq)

Lost-soul who got lucky in 1994 discovering and entering a career I was made for and eventually a job that was like it was made for me. Currently winding-up that career as an ultra-remote living in paradise.

Writerly think-work and nothing exotic or thrilling but that's all I'll say online.

First gun acquired in 1978 with one of my first real-job paychecks - an SP1. :)

Did a 6-yr stretch as an Airborne Infantry/Special Forces officer in the US Army after high school from 1971-1977, including an interesting tour in the RVN, spent some years as a wine buyer after that, went to college for FAR TOO long, then ended with the US Government as a passport clerk, until I retired this past June. Will write the great American novel sometime soon, I hope.

Have had a lifelong love of firearms and their history, and a PASSION for militaria of all sorts, though primarily American and Soviet weapons, uniforms, helmets and equipment. I speak multiple languages, Russian among them, and I married the daughter of a Soviet Army colonel. My wife's great grandfather was a renowned general in the Red Army, one who rose from common cavalry trooper in the Russo-Japanese War to command the 18th Soviet Army for a period during The Great Patriotic War.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all on this forum. As one who has followed all your ups & downs, your joys and your sorrows, your reminisces and your anguish, I wish to ALL here the best of the season and the happiest, healthiest and most prosperous New Year ever. HUZZAH!

Honestly one of the most enjoyable threads I've read in awhile. Really helps connect the human side of we all are from different walks of life, but bonded by a common interest (even though they may focus on different subjects). Keep it rolling guys, and Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all!

After University I did a few years as a Mechanical Engineer in the telecom industry followed by my current employment (Canadian Armed Forces) of the past 17 years as a Military Helo Pilot / Instructor plus currently posted as an Aircraft Accident Investigator. I am years away from retirement but will be heading to the far south at that time (US citizen by birth). The wokeness and rampant socialisim is getting harder to bear as the years pile up.

I have done a few different things, settled into marketing jobs for financial service companies for the last few years though. Still trying to figure out what I am “supposed” to be doing!

Have been out of collecting for the last 7-8 years, but life is starting to let me get back to it. Always appreciated the knowledge available on these boards.
