What type of wood was use on the jungle carbine. The front part of the wood is dark and the buttstock is light wood. What stain can I use to stain the buttstock.

i cant speak in terms of 'all' cases but i can say my 1945 BSA - walnut fore and aft , my 1947 FAZ beech fore and aft ,
i have seen some with mixed coloring too and it may be that some of those that served in malasia and such were refitted with some other species but ive not got any instances i can point to of examples

My JC had a beech forearm, beech buttstock(didn't look like beech though), walnut handguard.

I managed to scavage a complete walnut JC set off ebay about 2 years ago. Forearm needed some repairs but the rest was good.
