Neat-o dude. The Germans made a very similar saw. As I'm sure most everyone else did. I've often wondered, where the original patent is held.

The first one of these I saw was when I was doing jury duty in Kingman, AZ. A fellow juror brought it in & showed it to me. I took some photos of it with a film camera so I still have them, somewhere. I misremember if the fella himself or a relative brought it back but his came out of New Guinea.
It was in a case like this but someone had cut holes for a belt in the back.
Pretty neat & very compact item. I wonder how well it works?

My first thought when I saw the title of this post was, "I didn't know that they had 'Squad Automatic Weapons' back then!". Great pics, though, thanks for posting them. I learn something new every day.
