Hi all,

Here is another of my recent acquisitions. It is what appears to be a IJN specialist tool for a bomb armourer. The C Spanner is original to box but I suspect that the micrometer has been added latter as two small lugs of wood have been removed that would've helped retain maybe a slightly different micrometer to the one in the box.

Does anybody know anything about this item or seen one before.

Many thanks in advance,
Cheers,

Not sure on what the micrometer would be used for on assembly of a bomb and components but the spanner wrench was most likely used to install the fuze into the bomb or as a fuze setting tool or both.

I have some older US made micrometers and the wrench looks just like the one that comes with the micrometer, to adjust the zero. The small bump fits on the hole visible in the micrometer shaft.
Now that makes a lot of sense.

Many thanks rgl3945. Looks as if you could be spot on there.

I wonder what the characters on the lid of the box translate as?

When I got it all I was told was that it was navy and from the bomb section, not sure if that is correct or not.

Cheers,
