I know that the 1903's were purchased by the Kawaguchiya Co. Ltd.. However I have never seen one to check for a mark and not sure if they were or were not.

I have examined a few 1903 Colts (32 cal) that were reported to be sold commercially to Japan. I don't believe any had Japanese markings added. Examples seen were in the serial range 526,000 to 536,000.

The colt auto website has a vast amount of information but having such a piece I would venture to obtain a colt letter costs like $75.00 , will really prove the history , and increase any collector price Nice Find
