Found this in a LGS the other day, it came with the 3 cleaning rods, Italian sling and the non folding bayonet, it has what looks like HZaJt3 stamp on the stock closer to the butt then the pistol grip, matching and in great shape, I thought it would go nice with the other German captured rifles in my collection.

I am always leary of these. To many bogus stamps around. It seems these once scarce rifles ar becoming "more common."
If described as Nazi capture I'd question it, if described as a normal rifle I might not. But a fake would be relatively easy, sadly.

Thankfully 2 of mine are directly purchased from the son of the guy who brought them back so I can say they are legit. The other one was purchased at a show and is legit because of the missing serial number on the barrel shank, one I got from the vets son was just like it.

I never looked at Italian rifles until a Calvary Carbine was in a bunch of rifles I bought, was going to sell it for $75 until I noticed the HZA stamp on the stock, as I have been collecting WWII German rifles for almost 40 years and have a few examples of captured German marked rifles the carbine fit right in, the gun shop had a fairly cheap price $325 on the M38 and quickly accepted my offer of $250 OTD, I don't know what it is worth but I thought I was getting a great deal. I think more collectors are becoming aware of German marked Italian rifles and are finding them.
