A friend sent me this OD beret & I don't find it listed in my limited uniform reference books. Is this from the Fascist Youth? Post war? The liner is torn & faded to the extent I am unable to read the maker.

That information is in a white diamond outline with **ALLA over 56 at the bottom. There is a name printed in ink - ZARRA - also badly faded. It seems small for a size 56 which leads me to believe it has been through the washer.

Any ideas will be sincerely appreciated.

Also shown is your basic Italian cork helmet with Italian sand goggles. SW

Hi NebHogger!
Good to see you again! Wanted to let you know that the goggles are British and were used by the Italians when captured. I have a pair myself. How's the collecting coming?
Best Regards, Arditi

Aha! Thank you for the replies. :)

Arditi,

Oh,I find one here & there! ;) The goggles shown were sold to me as Italian. Oddly, they were less expensive that Brit or German goggles. I am keeping my eyes open for a unit badge to put on my helmet.

The Blade,

Can you tell what unit might have used that type of beret?

Best regards,

Steve
