Hi,

Went to a gun shop the other day and found an Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 for sale for 300 bucks. The stock has been sporterized but appears to have all the original sights etc and sling. The gun overall looked in great condition and the guy mentioned to me that the barrel was also in good shape (although I did not look through it myself to see the rifling etc. Is this price worth it? I am sure I can always find an original wood stock for it if I ever wanted to unsporterize it.
Thanks for any feedback.

$300 is way too much for a sporterized No4 IMO. Of course, I personally don't feel that any sporterized military firearm has much value :(

Not a good price.

In Maine, I would laugh at a dealer who had a sporterized No. 4 for $300. If it was a really nice one, if the bolt matched, if the sights were not messed with and it was not drilled and tapped I would pay at most $125

Apologies to our French compatriots, but I have no accent aigu or grave keys on my keyboard
