I have a chance to buy a byf 44 Israeli Mauser in 7.62, bore is dark, but looks like it will clean up. Also, one the former owners cut the butt stock to fit on a modern recoil pad. due to cut stock owner is willing to let it go for $200 OTD.
thanks

Newish Israeli stocks can be found. For me, it would be worth it if:
#1 - the bolt and receiver match.
#2 - there is no/VERY little pitting under the wood.

$200 for a bolt mismatched Israeli mauser with sporterized stock and dark bore seems too high. I think you made the right decision.

glee: Keep your eye out for one of the earlier Armscorp imports. They came "straight" here w/o a South American detour and usually are in excellent condition - and priced accordingly ($250. to $400.) DDR
