Just bought a Nagant revolver. While I'm the sort that will shoot it with original type ammo I'm wondering if the 32ACP cylinder I've seen mentioned is at all worth while.

I have the dies and components to load as much 32ACP ammo as I would ever want to shoot.

Thanks.

Some users have posted that their new cylinders did not fit without a little gunsmithing. Others say theirs fit fine. It just depends on the Nagant. If you decide to shoot it a lot and already have the .32 equipment, it would be easier than 7.62 Nagant ammo. I reload Nagant Hotshot cases and it is a bit of trouble, especially compared to reloading standard ammo.

Yes it's worth it.
Any time you can have a choice of using multipal calibers in a firearm you have more options.
It is true that sometimes a .32 ACP cylinder may require some fitting.
Fortuntally mine did not.

No. 32 Long isn't much more expensive than 32ACP and i believe you'll find it more accurate as the .32 bullets are slightly undersized for the nagant.

I bought a .32 cylinder when I bought my Nagant. Threw it in the gun and have been shooting it for ten years. A great investment.

IMO just save the money and shoot shorts, longs or H&R magnums out of it. At shows I don't think I've paid over $10 for a box of 32 shorts/longs/mags. I tend to look for old boxes of them and you might be surprised at the number of dealers who just want to sell it to get rid of it.

I think Mike saying it, but don't a nagant cylinder shoot regular 32s? I got a 32 auto cylinder with my nagant back years ago when I got mine.

Nagants shoots 32 centerfire rimmed rounds - all of them. The only one that chambers but should not be fired is the 327 mag. The 32ACP is too small for the military cylinder hence the need for an after-market one. Back when I had many Nagants (I only have one, now, a target model), I bought a 32 cylinder. It only worked reliably in one of my revolvers given the "hand fitted" nature of Nagants. That was fine, of course, because that one revolver was my 32acp version. When I shot my CZ-50, I could take that Nagant along, as well.

It would be expensive and destructive, but i would be interested in learning how 327 reacts in a Nagant revolver. Back when they cost me less than $50 each, it could have been interesting to do a test. (The problem with me, is not that the money would be too much of a problem, but I could not bear to destroy a revolver that went through WWII.)

Thanks for the info folks. I'll try to load for the Nagant. If I stumble across a 23ACP cylinder I'll snap it up. I'll also keep my eyes open at the gun shows for other shootable ammo.
