Two words: Total Bust.

There was a grand total of 1 Mosin in the entire building (41 Ishevsk 91/30 for $150), a few excruciatingly overpriced Enfields (No.1 Mk. III for $850 anyone?), and a humped K98 that even I could distinguish from a real matching rifle (and given my track record with 98ks that's saying something).

The usual 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 AR15s that all look the same except for the random accessories crammed on them, more stun gun and leather vendors than you could shake a stick at (*nsfw joke ahead* the leather vendors would've probably enjoyed that... *nsfw joke over*), and a few people that were selling candles and Avon or whatever else was out there.

Pretty sad showing, but such is life I suppose.

Oh, and I bought an old 150mm ammo crate... because I have a strange affinity for things made out of wood... and I'm already working on converting it into a transit case for the PPS43, because I really have nothing better to do at this point in time.

Eh, the Laurel, MS, show was a real ho-hum. There was a guy with a Century L1A1 with an Israeli HB installed a guy was selling for $2,500, while another guy had a Hesse R1A1 for $900. 91/30 refurbs were $149.

Well I actually live about 45 minutes south of the city, surrounded on three sides by forest preserves. All my Chicago Police family and friends plan to hold out at my place if the preferable SHTF ever happens. A spring fed pond loaded with fish 100 yards from my back door, forests full of deer, and only two ways in or out. A very defendable spot where we could actually hold out.

Hear ya' FASTP,

I like the old stuff, but have respect for the guys who like the black rifles. Wouldn't mind hav'in one for zombie time, but the Mini-30 should work well for that. Have one goal when I go to a show. Bring somthin' worthy for a good price home. Some good ammo, bayonet...once in awhile an old rifle.

Not bad on the shell crate, now you have a project and probably didn't spend much. Ain't a bad day. I have a serious love for wood. Can't blame ya'.

I have nothing wrong with AR's, but an AR-dominated show is monotonous - and boring.

Gun Shows - I sure miss the old ones....back when it was Mom and Pop selling personal stuff, before all the commercial dealers came in. If I want new stuff, I can buy on-line or at my friendly gun store, usually far cheaper than what the gun show dealers are asking.

Cooped up with Chicago's finest during the apocalypse? Would that be heaven or hell?
You know what they say - "There's no situation so bad but that the police can't make it worse".

sad fact that many show attendees want to see and feel the Black Guns they see on tv. Was in gun shop recently discussing the lastest crappy gunshow. In walks 3 new customers wearing stereo typical wanna be attire. Told the owner "watch this -they,ll take one look and walk out". They did. He stocks better to excellent quality sporting arms and no black guns at all. Just like we oldies were drawn to colts and winchesters by the westerns These guys see nothing but aks and ars.
