I was told a gun shop actually sold a case of 9mm recently for $1400 . It makes me laugh how many people wait until the last minute to buy , either guns or ammo. Last time when Obama said he was going to reinterpret the law on who could sell guns ,[no private party sales was the fear], the rush was on. I sold a put together AR for $1750 . I bought the complete lower for $200, the upper which was welded , for $150 ,the bolt, $95, op rod, $15 and it was gone !! I never thought of selling it but the local gun shop called me and asked if I had any AR's I wanted to get rid of, because they were pleading with him to get one. So I asked him, what he thought we should price it at and he priced it. After the dust settled, they were $400. Never underestimate the stupidity of humanity .

For example Black Talon just sold on GB for $6.40 per round shipped !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes my $1 round story elsewhere look cheap.

you are comparing a collectible ammo to modern stuff,

not really a valid comparison,

kinda like comparing good Lake City clipped AP to winchester white box

We can point-and-laugh at geezers who coulda shoulda woulda and didn't, but - also give a thought to the yonkers just starting out who don't have the resources and haven't had the time to accumulate mass quantities yet. We've all been there.

Still glad I have more to crow about than be point-and-laughed-at about. A little of the latter makes me appreciate the former even more. :)

depends on how long it takes them to lay it out in yard,

figure if they hit your house, they would need a good acre or 2 just for the PP/PPK/HiPowers....

maybe double that for the ammo;)

Depends on how many hang-firing chads.

My count would be a one-day story, but heirs wanting recounts may drive a few more rounds.

"I want that PMC 5.56 ball!" "No, you got the Hirtenberger .308!" It could get loud.

I wish. <rolleyes>

I’ve always said that if I famously broke the law, like robbed a bank, the headline would start with: “Vietnam veteran with 20,000 rounds of ammo and insane gun collection ...”

I'm thinking about keeping 1/2 my ammo stashed here at my western Montana place and stashing the other 1/2 in my far out eastern Montana hide out, 600 miles apart. I won't have to cross any state lines in the process. I'm afraid state lines will be the first places where traffic will be stopped and checked for guns, ammo, food hording or anything else our government might consider contraband items.

We've probably already seen that headline it makes me wonder when the press reports someone was charged with a " gun crime" what that actually is

Lostinspace ---- I didn't say "restricting crossing state lines". I said state lines could be the FIRST place traffic might be "stopped by law enforcement personnel to inspect for contraband items". If no contraband is found the vehicle would be permitted to pass. If such is found the personnel would be allowed to unload it into the custody of law enforcement personnel then be allowed to proceed on to their destination. Under conditions leading up to a Marshal Law declaration, anything could be considered contraband and confiscated anytime, anywhere it is identified by law enforcement personnel. Don't believe it cannot happen. Approximately 25% of the vehicles I see on the US highways here in our part of Montana have license plates from Calif., Idaho, Wash. Wyoming and a few from Canada. Coved 19 isn't proving anything accept that millions of people are willing to take a bunch of lying politicians' word and swallow it hook, line and sinker.

Those who whine about prices the loudest are those who failed to plan ahead.

For the most part I agree, but it also affects people who have just recently turned 18 or 21 and are trying to buy needed firearms and ammo they were not legally able to buy before the outbreak. It also affects those 18-24 year olds who graduated in the crisis or are fresh in the workforce from school who seemed able to finance their gun enthusiast activities in February and early March when the economy was still booming and before ammo prices got too out of control, but who then graduated into a depressed economy and/or did not qualify for the unemployment benefits given out.

I was lucky to have built up a decent enough pile of 9mm and .22 ammo before all of this on a part time work college budget, but lacked the money to get much .223/5.56 even at good prices, much less now at inflated ones.
