Went to a show at a casino in Las Vegas. Not many milsurps and the few I could see had crazy prices.

Beat up Polish M44 with thinning finish and dark wood. $200
Enfield No.4 Mk2, PF33xxx clearly sanded and refinished, with bayonet and sling. $400
Refurbed 1937 Ishevsk Mosin with bayonet, $185
1943 Ishevsk with sling $250 (uh-huh)
Only one Garand under 1k, a $999 example
A pair of $1200 Garands that have been at Las Vegas shows for about the last four years.
Grossly refinished Enfield No.5, $525
SVT in a "naval" (?) stock, poly'd to oblivion with a very strange stepped buttplate fitment. Is that normal? $1000

BUT, drumroll please, the most ridiculous of them all IMHO

Model of 1917, Winchester built, non-matching handguard (wood lighter), original sling, $1145.

Bought some cleaning supplies, AR mags and a super cup cake from the lovelies at one table just because they chatted me up and made me feel good. Best $2 of the day.:)

Gun shows around here have really gotten to be a joke. My uncle is a dealer and I have helped him set up friday night before a few shows. Most of the real good deals take place then, between the dealers themselves. As far as the rest of us you cannot find much unless you happen to find someone carrying something in. I have been kinda looking for a Garand myself, but $1100 for a 90s Korean return or the like is a lot more than I can justify. Especially if there is one on every other table.

I'm in Overton visiting a friend that has some issues and we went to the same show you wrote about.

One noticable firearm vendor that caught my attention was the guy with the red shirt and black cowboy hat. The prices he was asking for the firearms made the "brick & mortar" firearms dealers look like bargains.

The mild weather you have in Southern Nevada in Winter is nice.

It is remarkable the quantity of female lovelies that are in Vegas . . . and they are very experienced to charm the $$$ out of a guy's wallet, too! LOL

With the gunshow at the casino, you save $$ by not paying for the parking that is charged at the shows held at the Cashman Center. So the money saved from parking was well-spent to patronize a gunshow vendor . . . and as you alluded to, I'm also partial with doing financial transactions with lovelies! [chuckle]

I went to a local show today as well. A smattering of milsurps for a small show - Prices for K-31s and MNs were under two hundred a piece - Modern stuff was spendy - Nothing I saw I had to have - The show promoter was trying to save money by locating the show at a different hotel - Tables were placed close together - If one person stopped, no one could pass, I got that closed in feeling - I trusted my instincts and bolted ;)

I came home empty handed and opened one of my safes and saw more interesting things than the entire show today! :)

Going to have to travel to Vegas one of these days - Not too many pretties around here...;)

Pahtu.
