Here is probably one of the finest and most original Japanese Dress uniform groupings from WWII in a private collection. A lot is contained in the grouping and I will try to be precise with everything. Everything is original to this officer and is 100% original and all original to him. The medal box has the name of a bank on the inside inscribed in gold characters. My research has shown me that this is the name of a bank that was had that name only until 1943 when it was bought out, so I believe around this time the uniform was worn for the last time. Best find is the rice paper hand written note that was folded up in the pocket. I had some of it translated (its old Japanese dialect) and it speaks of a formal dinner, what to do when you hear the gong, this officer is named and he was a speaker, then it speaks of the Emperor and doing a Banzai. A truly rare find and everything in MINT condition. This is a Lt Colonel in the Imperial Japanese Army and the grouping consists of:
Tunic and Pants
Hat
Plume in tube and box (Japanese characters written on box, see photo)
Shoulder Boards in original box and onion wrap
Medal grouping in box
Sacred Treasure 6[SUP]th[/SUP] class
Rising Sun 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] or 4[SUP]th[/SUP] class
China incident medals, both
Red Cross Aluminum version
Ribbon Bar
Officer Sash (in original cardboard box)
Trunk with original hang tag
Carrying straps for trunk
