I don't think $600 will get you toward a good M1 Garand, but I would probably pocket the money and wait for something nicer down the road. You'll be happier you did.
i saw a garand for $650 today at a shownot perfect but not bad

also saw more 30'06 ammo than ive seen in a while

FIVESHOT
Yeh I think I need about $800 to get into a Nice Garand. I kind of like the AK-74s. Are there any I should stay away from?
Around here $600 could probably get you a garand, $800 would be a much better garand :) If it was me I'd walk around and see what the best deal is on something that hits me...I tend to order the good deals I see from places like CFS, AIM and the rest of the places I see here, I go to shows to find odd little things that I find interesting anymore I'm finding better deals at shops and on the net.
More ammo: 2,000 rounds 7.62x39 Brown Bear SP, and 1,000 7.62x39 Brown Bear FMJ. I plan on convincing my doctor that my shoulder can handle more than a .223, and I want to switch back. gabe Suarez's article in "Complete book of the AK" is very convincing, as was the other guy's article on the performance of the Brown Bear SPs. I am eye-balling the IO at my buddies shop...
+1 on more ammo. I've wanted to try the Silver Bear SP and now you've peaked my interest in the Brown Bear SPs. Too many other choices since I have a small collection. Rather than let the 600 burn a hole in my pocket, I'll either wait till I "get the fever" over something or an excellent opportunity presents itself.
I'd make my rounds and see if something(s) caught my eye....if not, I'd make a couple of rounds (or hang out near the door sipping on a beverage) looking at walk-in guns. You can most always get a deal from a walk in.
what happens when you have money you cannot find anything. but when you don't have any that's when all the good deals come out for a m1 cmp

$7 for entry fee, $6 for Coke and soft dough pretzel.:)

Go home with $587 and look on line or buy a M76 kit and wait for receivers to show up.
i'd probably look for a nice sks para and 1000 rnd. of ammo for it.
News flash I'm up to $850!
And your choices have gotten much better.... $600.00 is a little more than $500.00 while $850.00 is beginning to approach $1000.00.

You are correct. And you just made me think. Im a buck and a half outside of a G.
Hello Florida MIke. For $850 I'd look for a decent/mid grade M1. Of course I'm somewhat biased. The M1 is one of my favorites! American Eagle even makes Ammo specifically designed for it! Good luck!
Sign up for CMP membership, skip the show and drive to Anniston. Now you can get your M1.

Saw that AIM has M72s which may be nice, but my best advice is to get ammo and save most of the $$$. Shoot more, save some.
I when to the show with $850 and came home with $1300 and a Ak 74 nds2. 400 rounds of ammo and 4 mags.
I sold 2 ARs.

Sounds like a very good day. Hope the '74 works out. Mine seems to be pretty nice.

Plenty of $$$ for ammo too!
