It was built in India in 1942 & somehow made its way to England, where it was proofed at the London Proofhouse.
Actually really interesting in that regard, as the ways in which that could have happened are pretty limited.
Sadly it has been drilled & tapped, value is pretty low. Maybe $200 USD?

I assume it has a bolt for it?? Without one it’s not worth 200 bones. Even CAD bucks lol.

No picture to determine if the front barrel has been shortened. If it has, it's beyond any reasonable restoration.
The XXI looks like a cross out of some other stock mark. That location is usually where the makers' mark is located.
Valuations are pretty much on point.

like dog said, interesting it went thru London Proof house,
also adds a foot note of sorts to the discussion in a few other threads about the England import mark,
applied before importation (likely to the US??) then made it to Canada, on an Indian rifle,
would bet it was one of many similar SMLE's in the pile that day

Without a bolt it is not even worth a Furb.
I have a bolt for it.
Just don’t like to store them assembled.
My dad had this rifle for decades and I have never shot it.
Took it to a local gunsmith who really seemed familiar with it as well as my 8 mm mauser.
He checked it all out and proclaimed it ready to shoot.
May run a few shells through it this weekend and see.
