Alabama is an "Exposed Carry" state, the law says you can carry your handgun in the open without a permit. The NRA lists 'Bama as an Exposed Carry State, a permit is needed to carry concealed. Okiedokee, if you will send me that early Tokyo 14 you "stole" from me and a holster and shoulder strap I'll see what the folks at the Pig say/do? The radio jock that was discussing this said you would probably get arrested and the pistol confiscated, you would probably have to hire a lawyer to get it back, but if the law is clear I don't know why you couldn't just show the judge the law. But since it would be Okiedokee's pistol he might want to chip in for a "mouth piece."

The mutt's post on high capacity mags in Komifornia reminded me of last weekend. I was stopped for speeding doing 95 on the Interstate coming back from shooting and before writing the ticket the officer saw the AK on the Miata's passenger seat. He said in an overly stern voice, "Do you have a high capacity mag for that thing." I said, "No boss." He said "You wait there," walked back to his car, opened the trunk, grabbed a bag, walked up to my window and handed me three 30 round mags from the bag. He then said, "Get out of here and don't let me catch you with those sissy 5 rounders again, and SLOW DOWN." If I'm lying I'm dying.

Garnett, Your dementia is way farther advanced than mine. Remember the old song, Maybellen "....Cadillac running bout 104, ford got hot and wouldn't do no mo." Coming back to Tuscaloosa from a fishing trip in Colorado I had my 95 (NA) Miata up to 120 on a long straight stretch in north eastern NM (and it cost me 86$ when one of NMs finest popped out of the first dip in the road and activated his radar, my detector didn't beep, it screamed. Luckily I'd slowed to 85, the speed limit was 65,) The NB Miatas, 99-05s, have an upgraded engine, I have no doubt I'd pass you so fast I'd suck your Ford up my exhaust. And I'd do that with a load of 99s in the trunk.

It is my understanding that while Alabama is an open carry, that does not apply to private property and you cannot be in a vehicle (must have a permit to have a pistol in your vehicle) . In other words, you can walk up and down the right of way with it. LOL

According to the radio Jock you can carry open anywhere LEGALLY. Just be prepared for the consequences and the fight to get your weapon back. You be in the right. I wouldn't have any problem with the gray bar motel. When they learned of the number and variety and cost of my daily pill ration they would return me home with a three-star escort and written apology.

Instead of giving you "back" the real early Tokyo T-14, I'll wear it on me while you and I walk into your local Piggly Wiggly. While you start running with an armful of them P-W hats without paying, I'll pull out the gun and aim at you with an overly stern voice of "Drop them Piggly hats or you go to the piggly pen !", and I'll get the customer of the month award honor from Piggly Wiggly.
