you are correct to say this is a Polish, K98. need better pics to see if there are some matching numbers. there is a number on the bolt handle, and there should be one on the stock, as well. this is a very collectable item, and if it has matching #s on the bolt and the stock, the value increases substantially. congrats, WELCOME to the boards!

It looks like one of the Polish K98's with no crest. Those were mostly for export to other nations. Here in the USA, most of these seen today are from the ones delivered to Spain during there civil war. Huge numbers of these rifles got imported in the late 50's-60's by Interarms.

If there is a capital 'A' syamped on the stock that will indicate a SCW rifle. Most of these came into the US via Interarms.
