I've tried to post an image from my home pc, and I've tried to use all four of Photobucket's image links, but nothing has worked. The Signature Picture window displays my jpeg image correctly, and it is sized appropriately, but it will not show up no matter what I've tried. Could someone please help a brother out?

Do you have View Signatures enabled under User CP / Edit Options?

While you're there, note that the PMing option is set to No by default. You might want to change that.
