I have a mid war stock with the tabs on the bottom.
I have noticed some mid war stocks have the metal tab only on the front..
Is it safe to assume the rifles with metal tabs on both front and back sling are 1942 or earlier and the rifles with just the front with metal are 1943 and later?

Dont know the answer to that but there was a vendor at the Slippery Rock (Pa) show yesterday with a crate of Mosins.Fast look I saw there were some 1942 dated with lower escutcheons on lower area only, some front and some front and back.Saw one with red lettering, also 1942.Was starting to get a coating of Russian honey on my hands and called it quits.
