I just bought one out of a very large estate sale fror $350, along with a scrubbed SCW wz.29 for the same price. I'm very happy with my purchase, I've never seen any unscrubbed Romanian VZ-24s in Canada and I understand the King Carol crest is particularly rare to find intact - in fact my copy of Mauser Military Rifles of the World only shows a partially ground example. Numbers 84 and 87 are mine. Please excuse the picture, I know it's not the best but only group pictures were available.

Agreed, but I'd have bought # 85.

Excellent finds, Nyles! It's a surreal day when a King Carol-crested Vz.24 sells for the same price as a scrubbed Spanish Wz.29. One you see once in 10 years, the other you see 10 in every year.
Regards,
John

On June 28 I bought an unscrubbed King Carol crest VZ24 rifle from a gun store in NH. UPS "lost" it on on July 10 when it was supposed to be “out for delivery” (by a substitute driver) but was never delivered. On July 20 UPS said “claim issued”, indicating they were going to refund something to the shipper.

The gun store gave me a full refund later.

Watch out for the s/n CR24148; this rifle is stolen.

I will just have to make do with my partially scrubbed crest rifle.

They are quite rare, even the partly/mostly ground ones. I have see about 3-4 of these at shows. But wait till you look for a Michael! I've seen one, just the vertical left, for about 400! Never seen a 'full' of either.

Both 89 and 85 look a little different then regular 24's from lower band forward, and the bands. One has stock cut for bent bolt. What's with them?
89 and 85 are not VZ24.

Peruvian VZ32
Brazilian M1908/34 (same as VZ12/33 except for markings and short bayonet lug)
