I bought a sporterized Inland M1 Carbine from gunbroker. I want to remove the Stock, so I can thoroughly clean the gun, and possibly restore the gun, though probably not since the front sight has also been replaced. here's some pics of it.

might be a screw on the bottom side of the stock that attaches to the band ahead of the handguard, remove the screw, and lift the action from the wood,
rifle might be restorable with correct parts..

there are 2 screws in that position, I've removed both, but nothing wants to budge and I don't want to add pressure to it, until I'm sure I've got the right one. the wood is in mint condition, and I don't want to damage it.

the rear sight was removed and the scope mount is in it's place.
that'd be the easiest thing to fix on the gun.

the front sight would be the hardest, since I think the sight is silver soldered on.
I'll probably leave the gun as is, since I was looking to make one of the commercial brands into a lightweight carbine for the woods for small (fox and below) rifle, and I got this one for $425, so it fits the build criteria and already came with a scope (though it's just a crappy Tasco one). just seems to be a shame to use an Inland marked one for that.

If I do anything to it, it would probably be to just put a synthetic stock on in place of the wood one.

Synthetic stock !!!!!!!!! AUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
yeah, I know, but this would be for a truck gun / walking in woods hitting it against things, so that's why the synthetic stock. it's not meant to be a looker or wall hanger. Though it may be if I leave it as is. The wood Fajen Stock is starting to grow on me.
