You have a rolling block disc :

R = 1st regiment

S = 1st squadron

No.99 = is the rifle rack number

Need help from Sweden . In the USA , I call " squadron " a group of ships or aircraft . Does this have the same military meaning in Sweden ? Is this Infantry , Navy , Cavalry , Artillery or Air Force ???????????

In the US even the modern armored Cavalry Units are divided into Squadrons. Just as Artillery Units are divided by Battery.

A Cavalry Squadron is a Battalion size element (actually Battalion +) usually with Companies A Troop through F Troop. And, an Artillery Battery is a Company size element.

I know: ;)
1/7 Field Artillery, Ledward Barracks, Schweinfurt, GE....First Lightning!!!

1/4CAV, Conn Barracks, Schweinfurt, GE....Quarterhorse!!!!

Yeap, The 1st of the 4th is still at Schweinfurt, as is E Troop from the 3rd Squadron, as far as I remember. My 19 Delta days are long gone. The Air Cav units also have squadrons as well.

Squadrons

The USAF and RAF organizational equivalent for an army 'company' is a squadron. Probably same for Luftwaffe and other air forces as well. In my blue-suit days, I served in the 6990th Security Squadron (Intelligence Command) and 922nd Strategic Squadron (Strategic Air Command), among others.
