I think I've seen this rifle before, but can't recall where. It's very suspect IMHO. It's an 8th Series Nagoya. Stock looks to have been sanded at some point, and a lot of the markings look fake. The sling doesn't look right to me, but I could be wrong on that.
I'd stay away from it.

That there is one of the earliest Bubbasized T-99s known to man. What you have is basically a last ditch rifle in which the GI had it customized with an aluminum buttplate replacing the original wooden one, it has been stamped with a date and the fact that it was post war Japan. The sling is an improvization of an unknown leather strap.
It has lost its value as an original Type 99, it is ok for a wall hanger and maybe even a shooter but it is not worth more than the value of its saleable parts.
