Two years ago, a guy noticed me shooting my Carcano and told me his late uncle left a similar one to him. He didn’t know what model or caliber it could be and he’d never fired it. It was being stored for him at a local gun shop but it was mine for $100 if I was interested.
I got a call this morning informing me that the shop owner had finally dug the Carcano out of storage and we could meet at the range to check it out.

I was disappointed that the stock was cut and couldn’t make out any rifling in the bore. I brought my range rod expecting to clean and slug the bore anyway. The rust turned out to be mostly years of dust and crap which cleaned up nicely. Luckily, it was 6.5mm and I just happened to have reloads with me loaded with .268 bullets.
Windage was right on and I ended up with a five shot group, under an inch at 50yds.

From what I can tell, this is a mod 91/41 since it has a short rear sight and 27” barrel.
I read that the bent bolt was something that importers did, not import marked though.
I don’t even see a caliber designation. Numbers don’t match.

Anyone able to shed some light on what the markings mean, where it was made?
Thanks.

It almost looks like a badly struck Arabic symbol or symbols. I love the interlinked AG stamps for ArmaGuerra.

Added some epoxy to the top of the front sight to lower the POI. Two shots at 50yds verified I was in the center of the target. Four shots at 100yds were a little low and right but I was pleased with the group. Two of the shots were in the same hole. Next trip I'll remember to bring a small file and sight pusher.
To make things even better, I was given a free unopened can of H-414!
