I have an after market magazine, thing never did work correctly. I think I had the same problem with the mag catch not locking onto the lugs in the mag well. I gently filed the bottom of the two mag lugs until it snapped into the mag catch. Mine also has another problem which I can't fix. After loading six round the bullets would go nose down below the body making extraction impossible. I tried everything to make it work, no luck. It's still a six round magazine. It now resides in a drawer, possibly for eternity.
Help with aftermarket SVT-40 magazines?

I just got a gift: an aftermarket SVT-40 magazine made in Taiwan.
The magazine will not fit in the rifle.
From what I can see, the two metal lugs at the rear of the magazine that snap in place when it rocks back to lock are too big. Any online tutorials or recommendations on how to fit these to an SVT rifle? Or is it best left to a gun smith? And if that is the case, what gun smith works on SVT-40s?
