I recently purchased a rifle that is stamped "Husqvarna AB .308" on the barrel. It has a Monte Carlo stock with check piece, a black forend tip, a 24 inch barrel and open sights. The S/N is 208xxx. Can you help me identify what I have?

THANKS!!!

You have a Model 3000 made in 1957. These rifles were built on the 1640 type action. Post some pictures, I bet it is a beautiful rifle!:D

Thanks for the response!!! Sorry for the lag on my part, out scouting for archery deer. I'll take some pictures and get them posted. I'm anxious to see how this thing shoots, I bought this planning to use the action only but when I looked at it closer I changed my mind. If it shoots it stays as it is. The inletting is superb, the checkering good, and it is lighter than I thought it would be.

Hi Road Runner,

Unless the barrel is shot out, which is usually not the case with these rifles, you can't do any better as far as quality and accuracy. Good Hunting!
