My son picked this thing up a an auction...It appears to be a 20GA, Gun Rifle Firearm Trigger Shotgun
once it had an octaganal barrel, which is now almost round, it has no markings remaining on it. It has a break down lever th Shotgun
at curves under the trigger guard. It looks like someone brazed the rear sight on it..sometime in it's life..any thoughts??? Gun Firearm Trigger Revolver Shotgun

Dunno. Pics aren't big enough, not enough detail to tell. Buttstock appears European, not US or British

First look for proof marks. Likely under something or in an out of the way place. Do an internet search for the lists when you find them. Spanish ones are at: http://personales.jet.es/rafa/b_punzones.html

The USA is one of the few arms producing countries that doesn't have an official proof house or standard proof marks. the companies and armed forces proof their own arms.

Once you have the country of origin, if possible, take some better, close up pictures. Try http://doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php and the appropriate forum in http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/index.php

Someone there may be able to identify it from the pictures.

We took it to a gun show...a collector said it was a German Guild gun..he said he has unloaded trucks full 30-40 years ago.and they were fairly cheap back then..he stated it may be worth up $1000.00 to the right collector. and most were well made..
He imediately identified the gun..at least we know what it is...now to find someone interested in it..
Thanks
