Guys -

I'm not really a bayo person and most of the ones that I have came as a package deal with the rifles that I have purchased. However, on a whim, I ended up buying a bayo for my '38 K-98. I know that you can buy reworked bayonets from SAMCO, but I was trying to get one that was "original". I ended up finding one that was in good condition, although the scabbard is not matching.

Please tell me what I have and if everything looks original (like I think it is). Thanks!

Mike

Overall, a very nice example. I concur with stede. The press stud doesn't seem right. Perhaps, post a close-up of the other side.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Now that I look closer, these parts do not appear to be made for a K98. Are they from some other type of Mauser bayonet, perhaps? Would I be able to order the K98 parts from somewhere?

I still haven't had the chance yet to see how the bayo seats on the bayonet lug of my '38 Erma. Looks like it would work, though .....
