offered a M27, Tikka 1930 built, bolt has the wings, war stock shows a lots use but no cracks anywhere, the bolt and receiver top # match, no # on the mag. the trigger is sweet. over all blue is about 20%, the bad part is the barrel, all shot-out, it is dark and with very little lands left( very rounded lands with little rifling left). I am a shooter, not really a collector. Even though the seller offered $250 for this rifle, i told him i will think about it. The barrel is the only thing put me off, because i will use it on the range just like all my other Finns, also did not care for the winged bolt, shall i buy it or pass? I am more in love with M28 and M39, less so with the M27, but it has me thinking, what you guys think?

The bad bore would be a deal killer for me as I shoot all of my Rifles. If you reload you can try some larger dia. cast bullets in it.Mike
Considering they are not made anymore, the original bore was .308-.3095, I've seen sewer pipes that group well, I'd get it.

what you said are what make me thinking hard about it, i know the thing has been hell and back, and should be in the hand of someone collects, i am torn that is for sure.

sadly, i do not reload
If your not interested tell the seller I am. Have been looking for a 1930 to fill the void in my collection. Would rather have one in better condition but I probably won't be shooting most of mine anyway. Originality for me would maybe off set the condition of the barrel for me. Hope this is not considered distasteful to offer this? Not a big deal either way, just thought I would mention it. Cheers, John.

John: not at all, you have PM from me, have a nice weekend
Buy rifles you would be happy to fire - That way one would never have regrets - I probably not fired half of my small collection....with little to no regrets, but I do appreciate a rifle with a decent bore.

Pahtu.

i am with you on that, i think i will give it a pass, let someone else have a go at it.
It is a double curse to be a competitive shooter and a collector. Gets expensive too. I have about 4 Krieger barreled rifles in my safe and a blank upstairs. Multiple heavy barreled target rifles and a host of mostly pristine 03 and M1 Garands {barrel condition}. Would of never considered excepting less out of a barrel then near new condition. What really got me was a genuine sewer pipe M1917 that had been a Legion rifle. After knocking the big chunks of rusty crud out of the bore, I shot a near master score at rapid prone with it at 200 yds. The point is that even a really bad barrel can still shoot at ranges 200 yds or closer. No fun wasting your time cleaning a barrel like that, but it will shoot dispite the awful condition. Then there is Finn MN collecting. Most of my Finns have excellent bores or close enough. But many of my M91s are probably "Balkan" imports, and are at best moderately pitted. Most cleaned up quite a bit, but there is no two ways about it they are pitted and rough. But man are they cool! So I guess in some ways I have lowered my standards, but expanded my horizons in collecting well used rilfes. Doesn't make any sense to me what so ever. If the conditions are right I can now except a less than perfect bore. My how ones perception of what is important can change over the years. Good news, it is about time to get serious and take a day off an go to the range. I am so in need of doing this. Cheers, John.
