Has anyone shot over 200-400 yards with there AK-47?
If so what type of group did you get?

This past week I decided to attempt shooting a target at distance with my romy AK-47.
The distances were 100-200-and 300 yards out.
100 yards no problem. 30 out of 30 rounds impact. About a 8inch group size.
200 yards 20 out of 30 rounds impact. Group size was about 14 inch.
300 yards 12 out of 30 rounds impact. Group size was all over the paper. If I had to guess, about 22 inch.

So I was wondering if anyone shot out this far with there AK-47.
Also, is this about average groups?

Thanks,
Proshot

I do better with my scoped yugo and the Tabuk . Pretty darn good with the RPK74 with the bipod up and unsuported . Sounds like your groups are on average maybe a bit high . .

I have at about 300 yards, and though I got 25 out of 30 rounds on an 8-1/2x11" page with my Romanian AK (new crisp bore), I could only get 17 out of 30 with my Yugo, and the Romanian RPK is so inaccurate that I got NONE on the page at 300 yards.

Your group size sounds reasonable to me.

Oooo, Oooo, I Have

Not shooting for groups but have busted up rocks at 750-meters using a pal's Tantal gelding (5.45mm). Feels more like launching missiles than shooting a rifle yet these rifles can handle long range work pretty well.

Another pal busted up a rock at a lased-distance of 450-meters using a MAK-90 milled-receiver rifle (7.62mm).

And I've pinged a Virginia white tail at 300-paces using my milsurp Type 56 carbine.

Haven't shot for groups beyond 300-meters. Just haven't.

Never shot for groups at 400 yards, but I set water jugs out there and pop them with my WASR10. Also have some 1x1ft steel plates set out there, and can pretty consistently hit them with my WASR.

Didnt know the Romanians made an AK47?

Havnt really bothered doing any serious shooting past 300 but most of the AKs I have shot can hit 2 gal milk jugs at that distance fairly well.

M74 vs M43? Why here?
???? Have no idea where you are going? You lost me . Oh I get it .You think its going to get into a caliber ,cartridge debate. ...LOL . OK Call me mister Obvious .
Ok sticking with the m43 round ,wich is almost impossible to find .Although i have half a case still .The m43 Russian round sucks and isnt suitable for this discussion . WOlf is match ammo by comparison .

i havent shot for long distance with my saiga, but at 100 yards, I get 3 - 4" groups. I presume it will have acceptable results at 300. The area i will be hunting with it will have under 50 yrd shots. East Texas has lots of underbrush.

8 MOA accuracy -- wow!
And what's a 2 Gal. milk jug?!
Alden
Not every shot hits of course but pretty consistant I would say 1in2. That of course was with chinese ammo, dont know how wolf would do.
AKs can be accurate, depends on shooter, condition, patience and the right ammo.

And alot of rotten milk.

With most of my 7.62 AKs, I can hit gallon jugs at 300 with most shots. There used to be a rock in the field by my house, about 500 yards away. It measured about two feet wide by 18 inches high. I could hit it with three out of four shots with my M70AB2.

Most guys who will tell you that the AK is only a "hundred yard gun", don't have much time shooting them.

That's OK for a hot barrel and open-sights with an unfamiliar gun, in a hurry. I know these things are not accurate but I'm really VERY surprised by what I'm reading here! How can most of you think a 3-4" group from a bench at 100 yards is OK and gonna be fine at 300, and under any and all circumstances?!

People -- get a book or a coach, get back to practicing strong basics, compete (if only against yourself), and put Rambo back in the DVD tower. Please -- we need ya!
