I’m wondering what might have happened there. Appears to have been struck 300 over 299 while mounted in the same jig. It’s a very precise overstrike.
So, did the counter not roll over producing a pair of 299’s, to be corrected, or was it marked 299 correctly but somehow remained in position for what should have been the next rifle?

Great work on the book and I know it expanded beyond what you started with. I would like to commend you on the not only the book as a whole but also that warning about shooting high velocity ammo in the old Reising Pistols. Can not tell you the number of times I have had that conversion with folks shooting the older Colts, High Standard, Reising, & Ruger's that were built to withstand the pressures of standard velocity and not the high velocity ammo on the market today. Again, a job well done with the book.
