Guns you DO NOT miss and were glad to get rid of.

Did not know where to put this, but this forum seemed the best fit...kinda.

OK, my friends, we all talk about the guns we had to let go of and lament their passing from us, but now...(drum roll please)

But now, how about the guns you had and were quite happy to get rid of.

Mine were two civilian handguns.

The Colt Trooper and the PK 380 auto made by S&W but shamefully carries a Walther banner on it.

Colt Trooper. Solidly built and had a nice thick barrel...but...

Shot way to the left with anything but 158 or heavier bullets. Also...shaved lead out the sides horrifically. Noticed this when I saw what it did to a cheap spotting scope I used. Almost sand blasted it on one side.

Next, this &*^%% of an autoloader called a PK 380. Felt really good in the hand, but did not even get through one mag without two stoppages. Then the magazine fell out of the gun. Yes...fell out! Then when it hit the ground it kinda exploded with base plate going one way, spring going another, and the ammo spilling out all over the place. Karl Walther turned over in his grave, I am sure. Pure junk.

OK, your turn, what duds did any of you have the misfortune of obtaining.
No shame, it happens to all of us at one point or another.

Dave

Wasn't even mine but a good freinds.

WASR-22......

Thing worked great with round nose 22lr, but would not feed hollow points..... Don't sound so bad, until you realise that hollow points were pretty much the only 22lr you could get in any reasonable quanities at the time. We worked on that gun for a month or two trying to get it feeding hollow points, and finally accepted the feed angle was just too agressive, gave up, and sent it on it's way.
Back again. Old heartaches keep coming back up. I had Remington 7400 that I just...could...not...get to run reliably. Even took it to an "expert" on 7400's and still no soap. It's in pieces somewhere in the basement
My absolute worst was an Erma EP-22. Beautiful looking pistol but it would double/triple fire, eject unfired cartridges when the toggle went to the rear, fail to fire, had a sticky firing pin...the list goes on and on. Three gunsmiths and a half dozen attempts by me later, I put it on consignment with $250 worth of spare parts. I still can't believe that it sold for seven times what I paid for it! A very expensive paperweight.

Desert Eagle Micro Eagle, or Taurus TCP 380…both awful, honestly the Taurus was only slightly better than the Micro Eagle which could not even cycle more than one round when firing.
The Taurus "Judge" is the one I will never regret selling. Inaccurate, lousy customer service and one step above a junk IMO.

I don’t miss my 300blk barrel bcg. Building brass from 223/556 was a pita. Now my dedicated Taccom.22 lives in the upper and lower. Much more fun. I also don’t miss a very nice .45-70 uberti roller. Hardly ever shot it. Those impulse buys will get you.

We had Mini 14s for patrol rifles back when I was working. It was pretty basic but it was a. a rifle, and b. all we could afford at the time. It certainly wasn't a varmint rifle nor a head shot only @ 200 meters, but any deputy even those who were not familiar with long guns could hit the chest area of a target at 75 yards. Since then, we transitioned to ARs. Those old Minis filled the bill until we could afford a better one.
many ammunition types..federal was..not even good..
M1 carbine commercial , Sks worn,
both shoot better at 200 with consistent control of groups..off bench, off hand.<><
old model ..new not interested..into higher degrees of accountability over longer periods recorded <><
( bought my first ruger in 20. The new 44 sp. haven’t shot it..( bow hunting bear protection)<><
I didn't care for Mosin-Nagants. I bought seven including Finns 25 years ago, shot them, and found them lacking for my purposes.

I kept them in my safe and recently sold them at an excellent profit. That was the only good thing about them.

Yes Bryco!!!, that what name changed to. Davis is another I would sell before using if it was given to me. The funny thing is I bought the .380 because my buddy havd a Jennings .22 Cal. that I shot better then him. I could knock down shotgun shells one shot he needed 2-3 @ 25 -30 ft. I thought the .380 would be better to shoot and Con. Carry.
I was in a shooting in south L.A., suspect used a Bryce 9mm, which jammed after 4 rounds and left grip was melted (stolen during the riots). Petitioned the judge to let me have it but denied as it was a “dangerous” weapon.
Very interesting reading the list of "crap-o-guns". I get the ones that just don't feel right, are not being used for what they were made for, etc. But all the ones that had function issues? 8 out 10 times when something weird comes in the shop not working, it is due to simply being dirty and not lubed properly or they put it back together incorrectly (AR trigger groups). There has been a couple of times that I made springs or small parts to replace stuff. If a frame or reciever is just not up to specs, ok. But a weapon not functioning, unless it is a major component issue can be fixed, just need to understand what it is, how to fix it and be willing to spend the time/money on it.
Was happy to dump my Hakim while I still had all ten fingers.
I had one too and hated how it blew my hair back every time I fired it! Good riddance!
Speaking of blowback i had a Taurus Lightning .45colt pump rifle that would spit at me. It would run but I sent it back to Taurus, got a new one that also spit. Sold it.

Doubletap .45acp derringer, thing kicked like a mule and really hurt to shoot.
Taurus PT-908. Jammed constantly. Nice in the hand but horrible on the range. Was stolen and insurance gave me more than I could have gotten anywhere else. But, I have spare mage if anyone has one of these!
First one to go, years ago mind you, was an Universal M1 Carbine. Bought it new when I turned 18. The receiver cracked in two. Sent it back, got a new replacement. Shot it one time and sold it as quick as I could. Second one to go was a Ruger LCP. Bought it for discreet carry. Shot it a bunch of times to try and get used to shooting it. Just an uncomfortable pistol to shoot. Don’t miss either one.
I have had issues with alloy frame handguns.
My first bad experience was with a postwar Walther P-38 the CLACK it made upon recoil was nearly as loud as muzzle blast - felt like it was coming apart - I hated firing it.
I did own one good alloy frame Sig Sauer 9mm ex police P-6, accurate, & reliable - but Single stack . I sold it to buy a Hi Power.
The Dural framed Feg Pa-63 (Walther clone) in 9x18 was positively my LAST ALLOY FRAME - IT hurt like driving a hatchet into my palm - Much, much more unpleasant than my other STEEL 9 x 18's - which are keepers. Worse even than my .357 snub nose with wood grips.

Ksaw, great to have your vote the Ruger LCP P.O.S. There are a bunch of losers and the LCP is definitely on the S-list.

I have found Rugers in general to be a disappointment. Single Six, Mk II Government, multiple 10/22s, and finally a PC carbine. I had a 10/22 that had a bull barrel of unknown maker on it that shot well, though it wasn’t terribly reliable with any mags but 10rd factory ones, and even those weren’t 100%.

What’s ironic is that I hated ARs for a long time but decided to give the platform one last chance and got the parts to put together a dedicated .22LR running S&W 15-22 mags. Once I had the build tweaked it ran and runs flawlessly, thousands of rounds without a single stoppage that wasn’t ammo related. After my experience with that I sold that last 10/22 and will probably never buy a Ruger again.
