My wife got me a great book for Christmas called "The Complete World Encyclopedia of GUNS". It's 512 pages long and most of the photos, especially of the guns, are in color.

It has in it a pretty good photo of a captured PEM reportedly during the early stages of Operation Barbarossa.

I quickly made these observations as I stared at the picture with a big smile on my face.

1) Appears to be a Tula (Obviously the year is 1941) but since the bolt is open you can clearly see just one pin hole showing in the wall of the receiver.

2) Appears the windage screw was removed/missing in the mount as you can see daylight through the hole.

3) Magazine is open and hanging

Antti....yes, but not on a grand scale. It's basically a eye candy book covering all the world's famous guns from the very first to modern day times.

The subtitle of the book is Pistols, Rifles, Revolvers, Machine and Submachine Guns Through History in 1100 Photographs

I scanned through the book over a month ago and didn't even see this pic until today. The book store had it at the front of the store where they keep all the bargain books.....was only $20 and I told my wife I sure would like this book.

Guess she remembered. :)

Anness Publishing but I can't even find the book on their site. http://www.annesspublishing.com/index.html

Authors are Will Fowler, Anthony North, Charles Stronge, Patrick Sweeny and from a search it looks like the book I have may be the latest revision of these titles...

Great pic, my wife got me a great book for Christmas called Machine Guns of World War I, lots of good machine gun photos and detailed shots and diagrams and a few of bolt actions and subguns. Nice when the wife thinks of you and your interest enough to get something like that.

I still think it's missing.

If that area has enough shadow on it I can't even make out the slot in the screw head I don't see how enough light could hit it to be shiney. If enough light was hitting it to make it shiny then we would clearly be able to see the slot in the head of the screw.

I can see the 2 dots in the recoil bolt nut just fine and they're tinier than the big ole slot in the windage screw.

I knew you would dig that sling....as soon as I seen it I instantly thought "Marcus"

I bought a PEM scope and mount from guy whose dad was an Army Ranger in WWII and it was missing the windage screws as well. The seller said his dad used it as a spotting scope throughout the War. He said his dad picked it up after Normandy and carried it all the way to Germany....:)
