The wife traded a scrimshawed 3-1/2lb Walrus tusk for 2 landed, one promised Mosin's, :D

The first a heavily used but well taken care of refurbbled '38 Tula, well oiled, missing most all its varnish and the blueing hevily worn, perfect bore with no counter anything, a SWEET trigger ta boot........as well a 100% Sako Straight stock in the low 20,500 serials, just 39 off from the other one here, and soon, a well used but all there M-27 with the bayonet reinforcments on his next ride down........Mmmmmmmmm.......a n t i c i p a t i o n ... ..... ....... .......... ................. .......................

He had proposed such an trade on his last visit, as he has collection of WWII rifles from the major participants.
quite a round and likes the tusks very much.

Yes, She's the Wife, as well as the artist all right, making wood chips fly as I speak. It's a wood cut of Caribou swimming across a river, one of two, the other is a herd of Walrus on Ice.I'm her assistant on this one.
When shes paid, I'll get paid.....Ill be buying ammo, she'll buy more tusks to scrim.......... :D

For a mom of 7 and in her 40's, shes very easy on the eyes and still strong..... too much :D She grew up camping like Eskimo are known to do, drank clean water, breathed fresh air ,ate fresh food and worked hard all her life.
Were pretty active traders, with Meat and fish mostly, though tradeing art work fo guns isnt new at all, she does so quite regular like.

Still for such Ivory Tusks, a couple good Finn Mosins, a scope based M-28/76, a mixed up shooters Luger, .32 pocket pistols,.22lr rifles are all interesting

You Gents should stop by the Hunting Forum now and then.

Caribou is obviously a regular and we've seen so many photos of his lovely Wife and amazing Family that he already knows most of us envy him both his Family and lifestyle tremendously!

But I'll take a pass! WAAAAAAAAY TOO DAMN COLD for these old bones!!! I'll stick with Africa where I can hunt in a vest and shorts and not worry about my vodka & tonic freezing in the glass while I sit down by the fire in the evenings.

Another great thread Caribou. We always appreciate you sharing your icebox adventures with us!

Warmest regards,

John

PS - Beautiful scrimshaw and a nice trade as well.

Ya know, you keep posting pictures like these and you are going to have more new neighbors than you've ever cared to have before :) .

Keith
I was going to suggest a book about your life in Alaska would probably
interest a lot of people but yeah, every Walter Mitty in the lower 48 would move up there.
