You mean Lukefish is an American/Finn "invention"? :eek:

I thought Finns ate Lukefish sandwiches, doused with a healthy dose of Frank's Red Hot, at baseball and football games sold by stadium vendors! (Or perhaps I am confusing this with Sushi sellers at Dodgers and Giants games.)

Finns do not eat that crap:
"while in Finland it is known as lipeäkala. Its name literally means "lye fish", owing to the fact that it is made with caustic soda or potash lye." They may sell it to others though.

It's a peasant food brought to the USA by Norwegians and Danes.
I'll take it from those in the know and diss Wiki!
