Looking at a Gewehr 98 that is a duffle cut but missing the forend of the walnut stock. What other rifle's stock is a good candidate for a donor? I was thinking a M1908 Brazilian Mauser stock. Any suggestions?

The M1908 Brazilian is the usual victim. The front part is the same as a G98 and it is normally the cheapest to be found. A VZ98/22 will also work.

the stock is cut a little before the rear band, in fact the rear band spring is still in tact. while the rest of the stock is untouched, the very front with the spring has been smoothed out. I'm planning on cutting it under the barrel band like a duffle cut though, so that the splice is hidden.
