Trying to determine the approximate number of surviving examples of this model and hence, their scarcity. I am informed that the German military discontinued use of that calibre after 1918 and consequently the only broomhandles retained in service were in the standard 9 mm. None of my Mauser books specifically address this procurement. Examples with serial numbers to the nearest thousand would be fine.
