Bless your heart; I've needed this info for some time and had no idea where to look.

Sometimes interesting (when in doubt) is to look for "Sütterlin writing".

To be honest, the best one can always hope for is that the writer of a handwritten document had good penmanship, it can sometimes be frustrating even having a good knowledge of the German language.

Although there are many, many Fraktur fonts available, these looked pretty good up against the script above. Never could decide which one I liked best.

New to me too Tater. I didn't know there was a "Luftwaffe fraktur" until Standard Modell brought it up and I Googled it.

The name is fraktur or german fraktur. Names like "Luftwaffe" are modern true type fonts. "Luftwaffe" smells a little bit like Nazi, but you should know, the Nazis went to latin script in order to rule the world. The new true type fonts looks similar to the old script, but they are not the same.

For example, when you look at the Sütterlin handscript you find out, there are 3 kind of "S", one big "S" and 2 small "s", the long "s" in the middle of the words and the rounded "s" only at the end. In some fonts you find the long "s" as special character, but in "Luftwaffe" the letter is missing.

Luftwaffe fraktur is essentially FetteFraD except there is no long S and the x is different.
